Year 5 - The Americas Celebration Assembly!

Year 5 invited parents/guardians to a celebration assembly. The children showcased their favourite parts of 'The Americas' topic. This included a samba performance, debates to save the Amazon rainforest, guest appearances from the Aztec king and Hernan Cortes and lots more!

The children have thoroughly enjoyed this topic and we hope the parents did too!

A special thank you to the fierce Aztec king (Tafara Chihota) who invited everyone to his glorious feast and to Hernan Cortes (Phoebe Rooney) who spoke perfectly in Spanish.

5T writing Spanish profiles as Hernan Cortes!

Today Miss Dowler taught 5T a Spanish session linking to Hernan Cortes  (a Spanish explorer) who conquered the Aztec empire. The children enjoyed pretending to be Hernan Cortes and were great at learning Spanish phrases which might have even been said by the man himself!

Class 5T enjoying making and eating guacamole with Miss Dowler! Not only did it taste good but they also learnt the ingredients in Spanish!

Brazilian Samba Workshop

5T had lots of  fun in the Samba drumming workshop. The children enjoyed learning about different percussion instruments as well as learning new rhythms with Brazilian influences.

 Tafara and Bobby enjoyed leading the rest of the class in a call and response activity.

5T's visitors from the Amzaon rainforest!

Year 5 were extremely excited and intrigued to start the new topic 'The Americas' with visitors from the Amazon rainforest. We learnt lots of new facts about these unique animals and even got to hold them!
