5T's visitors from the Amzaon rainforest!

Year 5 were extremely excited and intrigued to start the new topic 'The Americas' with visitors from the Amazon rainforest. We learnt lots of new facts about these unique animals and even got to hold them!

Can anyone tell me why the meerkat does not belong in the Amazon rainforest?

What facts did we learn about the boa-constrictor?

Some of the class monkeying around!

  1. I can Miss Thomson. The meerkat doesn't live in the Amazon rainforest because they stay in groups and in the rainforest they couldn't do this because there are too many trees and they wouldn't be able to see each other's tails. Meerkats live in the desert instead. Feeling amazed I held the fluffy meerkat, what a fantastic day!

  2. We learnt that the boa constrictor has amazing strength and it crushes its pray making it harder to breathe. It also wraps around it's victims. It felt dry like sand when I held it and it was very long.

  3. Very funny Miss Thomson! I was a monkey for the day from the Amazon rainforest. I can tell you an interesting fact about skunks! Skunks do not release gas (like some of you would think) they actually release yellow liquid!
